Project: Helideck Enhancement to CAP437
Texo Integrity+ were commissioned to carry out a helideck coating enhancement on a jack-up drilling unit while berthed quayside in Dundee.
The scope was awarded by the drilling contractor who required a quick-turnaround turnkey package to ensure deadlines were met.
Texo Integrity+ provided a full pre-project RAMS strategy to ensure maximum safety at all stages of the deployment.
As the project was being initiated, Texo Engineering provided a senior CAD engineer to draw the helideck arrangement and liaised with the HCA to ensure of full compliance – these were then approved, stamped and handed over to the client.
Surface preparation was carried out, seeing the entire deck fully blasted to S.a 2.5 in only 14 hours.
The first coat of Jotamastic WG 90 (Alu) primer was roller applied. A topcoat of Jotarmour was subsequently sprayed with aggregate by a hopper gun and was left to cure.
The project team then applied the regulatory helideck markings in accordance with the CAP-437 Standards for Helicopter Landing Areas.
Full and extensive safety & quality assurance testing was carried out throughout the project; with the entire project being completed in only 9 days – on time, and under budget while running 24 hours operations with no LTI’s or FAC’s.
Phillip MacDonald, Managing Director, Texo Integrity+ said: “Texo could not have achieved this without the help and assistance from our trusted supply-chain; this was a true team effort and a great achievement, carrying out this scope within the timeframe.”
