High-risk confined space project for leading utility company

TEXO Asset Integrity was asked by a large utility company to complete a niche scope of work within a high-risk confined space. The aim of the work was to prevent pollution upstream to allow the client to meet its regulatory requirements.

Solution

When initially tasked with work, we found that the environment needed specific risk mitigation to complete the work successfully. This included:

  • Adapted risk assessments
  • Specific training and experience within the team
  • Specific equipment including full breathing apparatus trolley ATS2
  • Quick turn-around times on scoping and completing the work

We planned the work to ensure we used our teams as efficiently as possible, within a safe working environment, and with clear mitigation for all potential issues that might arise. The team took specific BA02 training, which gave us additional skills and working practices, pushing us to the forefront of trained teams at this level – we already have High Risk & Rescue City and Guilds Level 3 and Level 4 in planning, managing, and legislative safety compliance. Our Project Co-ordinator built the team from previous high-risk Jobs that he knew had the knowledge and skills necessary to perform the task safely.

We completed the scope, safely maintaining our track record of pushing ourselves to train and advance into any scope requirement, providing a complete turnkey solution to any request for work.

The scope was therefore completed without delay, accident, or incident within the agreed timescales.
