Offshore Accommodation
Our client required the installation of a new A60 rated stairwell bulkhead and door on their drilling rig. This was a critical fire safety upgrade, made particularly complex by its location: the new bulkhead needed to be seamlessly integrated through three different deck levels within a continuously active stairwell. The challenge involved not only the technical precision of installing an A60 fire-rated structure but also executing the work safely and efficiently in a high-traffic area with limited space for scaffolding. The client sought a trusted partner who could replicate a successful previous installation on another vessel while navigating these intricate logistical challenges within a strict timeframe.
Leveraging our strong existing relationship and our proven expertise from a similar project on another asset,, TEXO developed a detailed plan for the comprehensive upgrade. Our solution involved a precise sequence of demolition and construction over a 14-day period:
Throughout the project, strict safety protocols were maintained. The work area within the stairwell was clearly demarcated with signage, and despite limited space for scaffolding and continuous footfall, operations proceeded safely and without disruption. We also benefited from excellent collaboration with the vessel’s crew, who provided valuable assistance with welding and electrical support.
TEXO successfully delivered a fully installed and compliant A60 new stairwell bulkhead and double door on the asset within the stipulated 14-day timeframe. The project not only met all technical specifications for fire rating and structural integrity but also achieved a high standard of finish.
The client expressed their complete satisfaction with the quality of materials supplied and the seamless execution of the work. This achievement underscores TEXO’s commitment to providing high-quality, integrated industrial services that directly contribute to the safety and operational efficiency of our clients’ assets.
