TEXO were proud to support Kevin Bell, Operations Engineer at Texo Port Services who successfully completed the David Goggins 4x4x48 challenge in May 2021. TEXO donated £500 to ‘Run for Reggie and Friends’, which was set up to raise funds for charities and groups who hold activities for people who have Down’s Syndrome.
The David Goggins 4x4x48 challenge involves running 4 miles, every 4 hours, for 48 hours. That’s 4 miles, 12 times over a 48 hour period, 48 Miles in total! The format of the challenge means that you never really get a decent break or a chance to get some real sleep to let your body recover.
There was a team of 5 taking part in this particular challenge consisting of Stephen Little, Kevin Bell, Ross Gladwin, Jack Hetherington and Paul Hogg. Stephen Little is the proud uncle of Reggie, who happens to have Downs Syndrome. ‘Run for Reggie and Friends’ will raise money for “Down With The Kidz”, Down’s Syndrome North East, Diff-Ability and Making Chromosomes Count.
All four organisations provide support and opportunities for the Down Syndrome community in the North East and further afield. Between them, these 4 organisations provide support for parents, people with Down Syndrome, social opportunities, educational support, signposting and raising awareness through the Down Syndrome community magazine.
Well done to Kevin, Stephen, Ross, Jack and Paul for completing the challenge and raising money for such a wonderful cause.
